What a Great June!

The Princess Party! Every year my mom has a princess party for her grand girls. This year I helped out with it. It was a lot of fun dressing up with my nieces and doing girly things together. We don't look very princess like in this picture, just being silly.

Kory and I decided to go camping on a whim (which we haven't been able to do for the past four summers.) We packed up and headed up A.F. canyon. Our friends Chelsea, Zak, Michelle, and Christian came up and roasted a hot dog and marshmallows with us. We had quite the adventure finding a spot. It was so busy up the canyon to say the least...

My friend Chelsea and I decided to take a basic cake decorating class together. There were 4 classes, one every Monday night. We had a lot of fun taking these classes together and learned a thing or two about decorating cakes.

These cupcakes turned out a little crazy, but we learned how to use a lot of different icing tips in the process.

The only downfall when making and decorating cakes, is how messy the kitchen gets by the time you're finished! It's hard to see what a huge disaster my kitchen is, but there is powdered sugar everywhere!




We learned how to make these ribbon roses....they turned out pretty good considering it was our very first time making them.

We decided to put pudding between our cake layers...it's always fun to try something different.




I made some brownies for my niece's baptism and thought I would jazz them up a bit with some flowers I learned how to make from my class.






Happy Birthday! Jen and I had a birthday BBQ in my backyard with some of our good friends. It was a lot of fun catching up and enjoying the nice weather together.


I thought I would try out my cake skills for my party. I did like how the little fireworks turned out...we really lit the sparklers that were coming out of the fondant covered twinkies.







Every year the poppies bloom in the foothills of Alpine in a place called Lambart Park. I look forward to seeing them every year in June.

Spring Break

Kory and I decided back in February that is was time for a vacation. Luckily I got a week off for spring break so we had the perfect slot of time to go on a cruise. We invited my college roommate friend Chelsea and her husband Zak to go along with us. We cruised to the mexican riviera and stopped at Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. We were also supposed to stop at Mazatlan, but they have been having drug problems there so we got to go to Cobo for two days.

We rented scooters for the day and headed to our zipline tour in the jungle. They didn't allow us to take pictures of the ziplining, but they will email us some that they took.

Hopefully 3rd time's a Charm!

I can’t believe how long it’s been since I have last blogged. I guess time has been going by fast or something. Maybe it’s just because kindergarten uses up a lot of my energies  and blogging just sounds like more work after a long day of Kindergarten.
I’m usually not a very open person when it comes to certain things, but I think I would feel better if I just shared some of the things that have been going on in our lives recently.
For the past year Kory and I have been trying to get pregnant and we have actually been successful twice. The problem is, is that I have not been able to stay pregnant. Back in April I was pregnant for 5 weeks and had a miscarriage. At the time I just brushed it off because I was not far along and I knew that we had only been trying for a few months. We kept trying and trying and got pregnant again in November. Which we were really excited about and the timing seemed perfect. I knew it was possible to miscarry again so we tried not to get too excited. We went to the doctor when I was 7 weeks and everything looked good and we saw it’s heartbeat. Meanwhile I’m feeling really good about everything and hoping that things will continue going well. (I did have one concern and that was that I had and still have a cold/cough that has literally lasted me 2 and a half months.) Just when I started feeling like nothing bad was going to happen, we went back to the doctor for a 10 week appointment and my biggest fear happened. The doctor was doing an ultrasound and was not talking. I could tell right away he was looking for a heartbeat. I couldn’t see it and neither could he. For some reason “you” just never think things like this will happen to “you.”
Anyway, to say the least, I had a procedure done on Friday to help the miscarriage along. I never realized how difficult something like this can be and I have A LOT more sympathy for people who have gone through similar experiences. We are trying to stay positive about all of this, and we are going to continue trying to start our family.
Sometimes it is hard to have the face-to-face conversations about this sort of stuff. So if you were wondering about how our baby making is coming along, this should give you a little bit of an update.
Even though this has been a hard time for the both of us, we are grateful for the love that our Heavenly Father continues to show us in our lives. We are grateful for the blessings that we do have and we look forward to the time that we will be able to be parents.
