Cake Decorating Lessons

I have been watching a lot of cake decorating shows this past year and kept talking about finding a class to sign up for. Well, for Christmas, Kory decided to surprise me with cake decorating lessons at Orson Gygi's Culinary Institute. I have only had one lesson so far, but after my first lesson I was so excited to get started that I came home and tried to make and decorate my first fondant covered cake. It went pretty well for my first try. Everything was going so well until I tried to lift my rollled out fondant off of the counter....I put down the powdered sugar just like I was told, but I guess I didn't put enough. My fondant was completly stuck down. I eventually got it off with Kory's help, but it end up looking like old man skin by the time I pressed it down on my cake. I made little colored circle to try and cover up the wrinkles. I guess for my first try it looks okay.

Well, I can now say that I have made my first fondant covered cake and I can't wait to learn more and make more cakes!


Thanks to Martin Luther King, Kory and I got an extra day off and spent the weekend in St. George!

Festival of Trees

I have always wanted to decorate a tree for the Festival of Trees so this year I finally did it. I just did one of the little trees, but it was a lot of fun. My first graders helped me. They painted the little gold star ornaments and the red star ornaments were painted by my friend Julie's class. We really enjoyed decorating this tree and I plan on doing another tree next year!


My mom even came up to help us decorate!

BYU VS Utah

Kory had some friends over before the "biggest" game of the year!


Rise and shout the Cougars are out! This year Kory and I had season tickets to the BYU games. I can honestly say that I am actually starting to understand what the heck is going on down there on the field. I have a feeling like I will have a lot more years to learn.

Poor little Kory in the Emergency Room on Thanksgiving day. Kory and I drove down to Las Vegas to spend time with Kory's two brothers and thier kids for Thanksgiving. ON Thanksgiving morning Kory all of the sudden had sharp pains in his side. He basically thought he was dieing and we were both scared so we took him the the ER. They did all kinds of test and CAT scans and it turned out that he had a kidney stone. We spent six hours in the emergency room. I thought for sure they were never going to let us out. The doc gave Kory some pain medicine and we were on our way to Thanksgiving dinner.


We were all so happy Kory made it out of the ER in time for Thanksgiving dinner!

Something New to Look at

Fall...Football...

Well, it's been awhile. Right now Kory is in his glory enjoying college football and attending every BYU game! He has also found a bit of time to go to school in between games :)
This is the end of my 7th week of school and I can't believe it. I am really enjoying myself! Today I had to go to a training and I really just wanted to be with my students instead. It seems like there is always something fun going on at school. We took a field trip up A.F. canyan and met Smokey Bear. You are probably thinking that I left out "the" but the the forest ranger made it very clear that his name is "Smokey Bear" so I thought I would help set things straight:). We've also had grandparents day which was a lot of fun,
and tomorrow is apple day. It's amazing how fast they learn things and how much power I really have as thier teacher.




My parents decided it would be a fun idea to live in thier fifth wheel for a coulpe of weeks in A.F. canyon. Kory and I went up to visit a few times enjoying the leaves along the way. We even stayed over a few nights!Some of my other family members were also able to come up and spend some time. We had a lot of fun playing games and enjoying the campfire!

I love American Fork canyon...especially this time of year when the leaves are changing color.
