Back to School !

Well, I have been very busy these past few weeks. First getting my room ready and then teaching for the past week and a half. Teaching is going great! I'm so tired by the end of the day, but it has been a lot of fun. On Thursday I had a back to school night for my parents. I was a bit worried about it since I had to talk to 3 different groups of parents for 20 minutes each, but it actually wasn't bad at all. Lets see...I have 26 students. The school I teach at has an A track and a B track. So I teach half of my students from 8:00 to 9:15 then all of my students are there until 2:15. Then the A track goes home and the B track stays at school until 3:30. It kind of crazy, but it suppose to help give each student more one of one time with me. It's a pretty tricky schedule to get used to for me and my students. It seems strange to have a real job and to have 26 students counting on me to be there. I have to be at Ridgeline at 7:30 which means I have to wake up at 6:30 at the very latest so I can leave by 7:00. I'm so worried that I'm going to accidently sleep in and my student are going to be standing outside waiting for me to pick them up. :) I hope that never happens.

Since the day I found out I would be teaching first grade I just knew I had to use dinosaurs as my class theme. With the last name Longenecker....I couldn't resist. I made this huge dinosaur and told my students that this type of dinosaur was called a "Longenecker." I also told them that this big dinosaur was me and they were my little dinosaurs. Some of them thought it was so funny and others had no clue why I called it a Longenecker!

Meet Mrs. Longenecker! Oh yeah, I decided to go brown, thanks for your votes!

This dinosaur lists our class dino duties!

These are the windows near my door. Each one of these dinosaurs will have a picture of one of my students in it.

This is my back wall where we will have opening.

My new keeva! It's not mine to keep, but a nice teacher let me barrow it for the year. Now my students will have a place to sit!

This is a special little room attached to my room where my students can hang their coats and backpacks.

SWEEEEEET!!! Your room is darling!!! Extended day teachers are always wiped out, except when they are skipping to the bank to deposit all that extra money!!!
I am very proud of you!!! It's always fun when a former student becomes a teacher!!! Good luck, and have a great year!!!

Great pick with the Dino theme!! Your room is so cute. I can't believe you are really doing it all on your own. Is that intimidating? I bet not for you, I think it runs in your family to be great with kids. Good luck!

Looking at your room, it makes me want to be a teacher. You're like one of the teachers that the kids all hope they get. On a cake note, I just taught myself by watching online videos and practicing. Fondant is pretty easy once you've done it a couple of times. I would just look up some videos on youtube. A class would be great too, but I don't know which ones 'cause I've never taken any. But, if you make a cake and have questions, ask me and I'll do my best to help. Good luck with teaching.

I love it! It turned out so good! Are you loving teaching?! I wish you could teach my students. We decided to move to Southern Utah! So we'll have to call and visit next time we come up to your neck of the woods. I love the Keeva...is that what it's called? We never had a place that cool to sit when we were kids! LOVED the pics, I hope everything is going great for you guys!
